Textmimedia Developer

Year: 2011 - Present

Since Feb 2011, I have worked as a PHP developer, and Pimcore expert at Textmimedia, a digital agency originally based just off Portland Street in Manchester. In the past 6 months we have grown from a team of 6 developers to a team of 16. Much of my focus at Textmimedia is on bespoke applications for clients such as Edinburgh Zoo & Hi-Life Diners club, providing them with mobile apps.

Junaio Developer

Year: 2010 - Present

I have been a Junaio Certified Developer since 2010, when I undertook an MSc in Software Engineering research project (Vitruvius). The work in this section is a collection of the work I have produced in Junaio for companies in the UK. I have worked with the British Museum, 4Q Magazine and unofficially provided channels for GMPTE, Next & Magnet Kitchens

SEO, Content Writing

Year: 2011

code.reload is a drupal blog I decided to set up, to share my knowledge of the web, applications, and all of it's glory in code etc. When I get a spare minute I write articles that are based on what problems I have come across / solved. The site is also my pet project in writing content which is designed to rank higher in search engines naturally. Good old SEO tricks and whatnot...

Sketchup to AR for architecture

/projects/vitruvius.png

Year: 2010

Vitruvius is a prototype Augmented Reality service I developed whilst at the University of Manchester, studying for a MSc in Software Engineering. The prototype service allowed members to upload Sketchup 6 models, and geolocate them. The uploaded models would then be made viewable in a mobile Augemented Reality Browser called Junaio. I have since achieved A Junaio Developer Certification. The prototype service is no longer functional, although the channel & website are still available

Bespoke CMS Development

/projects/ajh.png

Year: 2007

Alan James Hurst Architect is a website I have always developed. Since I was first able to write HTML I have used ajharchitect.co.uk and updated it with my new knowledge. In the summer after my 1st year at university, I developed a Content Management System from scratch for this website. I'm not a designer, but this is a CMS I am proud to have written. Although I'd probably do this a lot differently now ;)

Bespoke API Integration

/projects/pesci.png

Year: 2007

Pesci Cranes UK required a new website, which included a map of dealerships located around the UK, this of course had to be editable. I wrote a content management module for editing the map points, which included using the google maps API for postcode lookup. The site also includes a small product display that uses AJAX requests in order to fetch additional content without refreshing the page.
